Well after some intensive work the family has almost finished the Arkipod Mini. The frame was sheeted and insulated. A vapour barrier was then applied and finished with corrugated metal sheeting. We really like this finish, should last a very long time.
Another great thing about the construction techniques we are using is that once the covering is worn out it can be removed and replaced easily.
All that is needed now is to finish the end caps for the roof, install the door and windows and put the finishing layer over the gable ends. This Arkipod Mini should retail at under 5000€ which makes it a great proposition for people looking for some extra space, or even to use for an income using the Air BnB website, if you have a cool place to put it, it will rent.
This Arkipod has an interior which is 8 foot wide and 10 foot long, from a camping point of view easily big enough for four people sharing, or alternatively with some nice furniture a cosy romantic couples Arkipod.
Arkipod Mini – started the build on the mini Arkipod with the help of my sons (family business). This one is 8 foot wide and 13 foot long which means it can be transported easily on a trailor or truck. We are also going to finish the roof in a different style and keep the price down. It should end up the perfect size for camp-site style use.
Beautiful day here on the South West Coast so we got a drone to do a fly by and capture some images of the Arkipod in the magnificent setting of Allihies Village on the end of the Beara Peninsula, West Cork, Wild Atlantic Way country.
The weather has been savage the last few weeks with lots of rain and wind speeds of up to 120KMH.
The structure is strong and sound, so no problem there.
The Grass roof building to the left is ten years old and clad in Larch, just like the Arkipod.
Spare room, office, studio, workshop, rental there are many reasons to buy an Arkipod. Spacious enough to use as an additional space to your home added to your back garden. Or in the countryside tucked away in a field some place. Arkipod fit nicely into any space and are pleasant to the eye.
As an extra source of income for holiday renting, just leave them empty for overnight campers, or furnish them for that real Glamping experience. Depending on how you rent the Arkipod you could expect to regain your investment quickly.

Arkipod’s come in many sizes, if the Arkipod is to be delivered it should be between 8 and 10 foot wide and between 12 and 15 foot long. Simply for convenient delivery by truck ten foot is a maximum width, otherwise special permits are required for transport, which even though possible would create inhibitive costs.
Arkipods come in many sizes, delivered by truck or built on site
Arkipod’s can also be built on site which enables a wider build. 12 foot wide is a nice width, lengths of between 16 and 20 foot, easily possible.
If you need a special size just get in touch with us and we will work something out.
How long will the roof covering of an Arkipod last? This question is answered as much by where the Arkipod is placed as to which roofing material is used. Under certain types of tree or very close to the sea would be places where the Arkipod could experience harsher conditions. We are open to suggestions and requests on roofing systems, but our preference is for the naturally protected wood, Larch or the classic farm covering, corrugated sheeting.
Larch wood is valued for its tough, waterproof and durable qualities. Top quality knot-free timber is in great demand for building yachts and other small boats, for exterior cladding of buildings, and interior panelling.
The corrugated metal cladding is a fantastic product which is ubiquitous with the Irish farm. We will soon be building an Arkipod here in our yard with metal roofing.
If after many years your roof is starting to show signs of rot or rust, Contact us to remove the roof and re-clad with the covering of your choice. The roof covering protects the build underneath and is easily replaced.
Maybe you are wondering why the site is not complete, I guess it is that way as I have not quite finished. There a couple of pieces missing that are not in stock. Once this is done I will be uploading photos of the finished Pod Outside and in and announcing build times, availability and suggesting uses for your pod.
What’s yours for….
Any way a couple of photos from this afternoon, to make the wait a bit easier.
